Hieu Pham's Fundraising Page

Hieu Pham is a fourth year medical student at Rush Medical College. Hieu has always been interested at looking at minority groups and their intersectionalities. He has worked with both the homeless population and the LGBTQ population prior to starting his fellowship year. His Schweitzer project looks at the intersection of homelessness and being LGBTQ. The project aims to look at the lived experiences of LGBTQ homeless youth through partnership with the Crib of the Night Ministry. He will develop a resilience curriculum incorporating health awareness sessions, one-on-one sessions to understand and facilitate LGBTQ homeless youth experience with the healthcare system, and most importantly incorporating a weekly mindfulness-based stress reduction curriculum over the next year. Hieu hopes to raise $700 for his project: $200 for basic resources (singing bowl, candles, art supplies, reflection notebooks/sketchbook) and $500 for CTA passes to provide youth with a mean of transportation for meet up groups and other group outings.

ABOUT Schweitzer Fellows Fest 2016

The Schweitzer Fellowship is a year-long service learning program for graduate students in health-related professions who will design and implement innovative direct service projects aimed at improving the health and well-being of underserved Chicago area communities. Through their community projects and participation in a year-long program that includes mentoring support, monthly meetings, written reflection, and interprofessional collaboration, Schweitzer Fellows are developing the skills and confidence needed to become Leaders in Service—professionals who will remain dedicated to public service and to creating change.

In the summer of 2016, the Schweitzer Fellows for Life network launched FellowsFest 2016 (formerly Summer Fest), a campaign to help support our current Fellows' projects. Each of the Fellows has created a "wish list" of supplies and resources that will help them realize their service project goals.

The Chicago Areas Schweitzer Fellowship is a program of Health & Medicine Policy Research Group. Your Summer Fest donation will appear on your credit card statement at "Health & Medicine."
